In this post I share a bit the place where the final touches of each performance are set, and the emotions and reactions from the artists from Belgium while commenting their performance.
After each rehearsal, each delegation leaves the stage and goes to a special room where they can review their performance, and ask for changes. This is the Viewing Room!
Vienna-Austria, in this post I'll talk about the sound of the show! This year, the Eurovision team shared some interesting content related to sound!
What would a song contest be without proper sound? There's some technicians and engineers that work hard to deliver the best sound quality to our homes at the time of the show, let's take a look at how the artists listen to their tracks on stage.
Vienna-Austria, here we are back in the land of music dreams. Today I talk about cameras, **claps**!
Today I decided to take a break on my series of posts dedicated to the technical side of ESC because I wanted to talk about a new music video that I found that looks like a commercial.
BTW - Are you on Youtube? I hope so ('cause I have a channel there, if you didn't already know that!)
Although she was at teen at the time of the show, she is now 27 years old. She has always been into music, but I think that her biggest hit is going to be her summer song of 2015, Sparks.
I wanted to talk about this song, and more specifically about it's music video, because as soon as I started to watch it I realized I was being a victim of marketing. I'm used to see small product placements every now and then on some music videos (like making a close up shot of awatch or showing a new smartphone), but I've never seen such a thing of this size!
In case you haven't seen the video yet, I'm talking about this one (if it's not available on the player below click here to see on Youtube):
In the beginning of the year of 2015, ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster, released some digital simulations of how the stage would look like. It's actually not that different from the final stage, except the final one has plexiglass stairs in the front.
Vienna-Austria, Welcome again to the land of Eurovision during the kingdom of 2015. In this post we're going to talk about the stage! Yay!
Vienna-Austria, Welcome to the land of dreams and nightmares of ESC (nightmares of course for the countries who don't get the ticket to go to the final)!
During the past weeks I paid attention to the "assembly" of the contest in Vienna, so during the next weeks I'm going to publish a series of posts, otherwise it was going to be a huge post! I'll publish the articles as soon as I finish them.
The posts are dedicated to the technical side of the contest and NOT the songs, so don't hope to read my opinions... this blog is called "That Camera Angle" for some reason!
Today's post is not completely "technical", but we'll reach that in a few days!
The 60th edition took place at the Vienna Stadthalle, a great place for sports events, but also for concerts, conventions, etc...
songcontest.orf.at reported that the preparations at the arena started on the 8th of April. The trucks with gear started to arrive to the Vienna Stadthalle. The first step after getting the boxes out of the trucks was to pass it on the X-Ray and to let trained dogs to smell them just to make sure they weren't bringing anything dangerous inside the arena!
250 trucks delivered 2500 tons of material!
This year, the show is broadcasted not only on eurovision.tv, but also on Youtube with better quality! The videos below will be available as the show starts!
Also, Eurovision is making an alternative broadcast in International Sign Language. Shake your hands and learn how to sing without voice! All shows are available on this Playlist
Stay tuned for the blog, because I'm preparing a very special post about ESC for next week!
When using an external recorder, you will need to sync it later in editing.
Today I give you some tips so that you don't stress out in your computer!
Sometimes when you make a video call online, you may have realized that the sound is not always synchronized with the picture. This is not horrible but if you're making a video, the voice must be aligned with the talent's mouth.
I think that the only emoticon that can show what I feel about music videos from movies is this one: ":S".
First of all, I'm not criticizing the movies that actually make MV from songs of the soundtrack (I guess every company does that), I think it's a very smart way to promote a product, sometimes even before it's release. And right now there's some movie soundtracks that I really apreciate like "love me like you do" by Ellie Goulding for 50 shades of Grey, or even "boom clap" by Charli XCX for the movie The Fault in Our Stars. There's many more I like to listen every now and then.
"So what's the problem?", you may ask. Well, when I see a music video from a movie, I get the sense I saw a video mix of the movie with the best and most dramatic moments... Sometimes, the music video just doesn't have any sense, because the way the images were mixed; and the singer is usually in similar locations to the ones that were shot for the movie... There's some MV, that I just prefer to listen to the audio.
Those MV almost look a like a music-trailer of the movie...
And now that I said what I thought about this subject (got me tired, lol) I'll share this music video from the movie "Pitch Perfect 2" (oh, the irony of this post haha), the song is called "Flashlight" and is performed by Jessie J. I really like the bokeh in some scenes, and I just wonder what is digital in there because there's just too many round circles of light in certain scenes to be real... I WANT A MAKING OF TO SEE IT! Oh, and those reflections on the eyes (like the ones on the vid thumbnail) are bit creepy... but my interest is just on knowing on how that was achieved! Overall the images are very sharpen with interesting color patterns!
Follow the work at the Blender Animation Studio, in the most recent project called "Cosmos Laundromat" (also called by "Project Goosebery").
There's some interesting content about the production of it, take a look at their BTS!
