In the soundcheck, each artist tested the microphones which were going to be used on the show and also tested the audio of their in-ear phones.
A lot of people may ask why does music artists and TV presenters (not only from the contest, but also worldwide) use in-ear phones-without clear audio, the artists can't sing well: imagine somebody singing in a church: due to the architecture of the building, a lot of echo and reverberation will be produced. If you add music on top of it, the speakers will produce a song that is going to be very difficult for the artists to follow the track.
By using this ear pieces, each element of the competition has "their own speakers" with clear audio! This type of ear-phones are very expensive because they are custom-made to fit the ear canal of the suject. In-ear phones provide great isolation from the outside noise. The only bad side is that you can't share it with other people because it will hurt the ears because it was made specifically just for you. (If you have the money and the will, there's companies that make them for anybody.) It'll take a few days to be made, but they'll fit on your regular music device or your phone!)
