Portugal - TV soap opera "Belmonte" is nominated for an International Emmy on the category for the best "Telenovela".
Portugal has already won in 2010 with "Meu Amor" (My Love) for TVI, and in 2011 with "Laços de Sangue" (Blood Ties) for the TV channel SIC. The last one is currently being broadcasted in Italy since May of this year with the title "Legàmi" on the channel Rai 1.
"Belmonte" is in the race with soap operas from Canada, the Philippines and Brazil.
The winner will be announced November 24, at the New York Hilton Hotel.

The story takes place in Estremoz, Alentejo, where 5 adopted brothers manage a business enterprise related to wine, olive oil, marble exploitation, hunting tourism and finance investiments, and real estate.
Besides the 5 brothers, there's also a girl, resulted by conceived outside the marriage of the brother's father. And the story goes on and on...during the 259 episodes!
Plural Entertainment, which produced "Belmonte" is one of the best well-known production companies of fiction in Portugal. As the post is being made, Plural is currently producing "O Beijo do Escorpião" (The Kiss of the Scorpion), "Mulheres" (Women) and "Jardins Proibidos" (Forbidden Gardens). The last one is a continuation of a story which was broadcasted during 2000 and 2001, and was well succeeded in Portugal!
